Why this site exists
Replacing a roof is one of the biggest single purchases most homeowners ever make on their house, and it's one of the least understood. Quotes for the same roof can vary by tens of thousands of dollars. Most people get two or three quotes, can't tell why they're different, and pick on gut feel or price alone.
This site exists to fix the information gap. The guides explain what you're actually buying, what drives the cost, and where the traps are. Read them, use them to question any roofer you talk to, and you'll make a better decision whether or not you ever ask us for a number.
Who runs it
Perth Roof Replacement Guide is run by Bob, a roof replacement consultant based in Perth. Bob has sat at hundreds of Perth kitchen tables walking homeowners through re-roofing decisions, and this site is the advice from those conversations written down.
How we're paid (read this bit)
No site like this is free to run out of pure kindness, so here's the deal, stated plainly:
- The guides are free, and they're written to be useful even if you never contact us.
- When you request a price indication, Bob prepares it. If you go ahead with the work, it's carried out by one of several established Perth roofing companies Bob has working relationships with. Different companies specialise in different roofs (tile to Colorbond conversions, metal re-roofs, asbestos removal), so your job goes to the specialist that genuinely fits it, not to whoever happens to be paying.
- Bob is paid by the company that wins your job. That means we have an interest in you choosing to re-roof through us. We deal with that the only way that works long term: by giving you honest numbers and honest advice, and letting you decide in your own time.
- Every company we refer work to is a registered building contractor, because in WA that's not optional. More on that in how it works.
No pressure tactics, no fake discounts that expire tonight, no salesperson camping in your living room. If our range isn't right for you, say so and that's the end of it.
What we won't do
- We won't sell or share your details with anyone else.
- We won't pretend a price indication is a fixed quote.
- We won't recommend a full replacement if a repair is honestly the better call. Sometimes it is, and the signs guide says so.
